Of Angels and Humans

The creature was gigantic and handsome and was wearing a light veil costume. She was hanging from a thin, flat, huge rectangular platform that she held with her hands. She was suspended in the air. Every tiny movement allowed her to move in any direction in the air.

Antonio had been assigned to a Peruvian little town church. The priest had taken him to this area between the mountains, at more than 10,000′ altitude, where “strange phenomenon had been happening”, the priest said.

He noticed that the people in this cold area where living in small handmade low hollowed mounds made of mud, that looked like tombs.

In one of those tombs/homes, Antonio saw a couple of very deformed dwarfs that were attentively looking at the flying creature. Then he noticed that there were two creatures flying. The other creature was descending in apparent distress.

When the creature landed, it ran to a table that had some weapons on it. It took one and run to a near cave. Then the dwarf couple also ran to the cave where somebody had started to cry and shout with horrifying sounds. Antonio peaked inside the cave and saw the creature starting to deform and becoming another dwarf-like creature. Both dwarfs entering the cave were silently crying while holding hands. They ran trying to reach the newly deformed creature but it was too late. She had used the gun and had already died when they reached her.

Luis, the priest guiding Antonio, was trembling while he explained that these wonderful flying creatures were, he thought, descendants of the giants mentioned in Genesis 6:4 that somehow had taken refuge in Peru. Since they were children of angels and humans, he said, their only goal was to fly again and return to heaven.

However, the precious metals and materials found in the mountains to build their “wings” affected their bones and cartilages, and after a while they will deform and become like dwarfs. Some of the deformed creatures had gone to join the demonic servants of Satan by committing suicide. Others, the ones that still loved God, lived their short lives in these mountains.

The children of the dwarfs were born as gorgeous creatures, tall and beautiful like angels, but, as soon they were able to walk, they would join the rest of them, obsessed with the desire to fly. They would mine the mountains, looking for the materials with which to forge their wings. But the only component they had found, that allowed the “wings” to navigate, was this one that eventually contaminated them and caused the creatures to become totally deformed.

Antonio was marveled and horrified at the same time. He kept all this to himself because he knew that Filomena will never believe him. He prayed many rosaries, hoping to erase this vision from his mind.
